Who?

Elora Apantaku is a third year medical student in Chicago.

  • She has a long list of comorbidities, the most serious and debilitating being diabetes.
  • She was born to a white female surgeon and a black male surgeon; she is of mixed race but she is definitely not surgery-bound.
  • She doesn't want to specialize, would like to end up in family practice, psychiatry, or possible pediatrics.
  • She is not a great student--she's not even good. But she likes learning.
  • She was an ecology / rhetoric double major at her undergrad.
  • She writes creative non-fiction and fiction.
  • She thinks the liver is hands down the best organ out there/in you.
that is one handsome organ.

Personal Statement:
I want to help people understand their health so they can live their lives in the best way possible.

This is what she looks like:
when climbing 40 m tall trees in the rainforest.... in a white coat.
